English IV Technical Writing is a course that focuses on technical documents including resumes, procedural manuals, and incident reports, to name a few. We will spend a great amount of time working on grammar and punctuation so that students learn to communicate effectively in and outside of their careers. We will also study ACT vocabulary and complete a two week unit on literature in order to improve the students' reading comprehension and performance on the ACT.

My Schedule:

2nd Block: English IV, Technical Writing, CTC
3rd Block: English IV/1010, LHS, Rm 409
4th Block: English 0099, LHS, Rm 409
This course is a Dual Enrollment course (for students who qualify) that is mandatory to graduate. While students do NOT have to have the D.E. credit to graduate, he or she MUST earn at least a D to pass English IV. The course is dedicated to writing different types of essays and reading for various purposes. In order for students to be successful in the course, he or she must turn in ALL required work and to be thorough and complete when doing so. If ANY student has difficulty with writing or understanding what we read in class, he or she MUST ask questions. Often, one student's answered question benefits the whole class. In addition, students are strongly encouraged to search online for information on writing and reading examples and analyses. Students today are quite computer savvy. I would love to see all use their technological intelligence to increase their success in ELA--and all--content areas. Further, students are always welcome to see me for questions and assistance before and after school and at lunch. I ask only that students give me some notice ahead of time (a day or a few hours) to make sure I do not have duty at that time.
